Working with the shared parameters plugin

With this view plugin, you can edit shared parameters in the ManiVault system. This plugin is primarily designed to provide an overview of existing parameter connections and allow modifications where needed.

Its key Features are:

  • Displays shared parameters and their linked parameters
    Get a comprehensive view of the shared parameters and all the parameters connected to them.
  • Search and filter parameters
    Easily search, filter, and customize the columns displayed for better usability.
  • Disconnect a parameter from a shared parameter
    Selectively remove individual parameter connections.
  • Disconnect all parameters linked to a shared parameter
    Clear all connections for a shared parameter in one action.
  • Remove a shared parameter
    Completely delete a shared parameter from the system.

This plugin streamlines the management of shared parameters, making it easier to keep track of them and to debug problems.

Below is an example of how the shared parameters plugin can be used in practice. The top level items represent the shared (public) parameters and it’s descendants represent linked (private) parameters.

Ways to add the plugin

From the main menu
To create the shared parameters plugin from the main menu:

  • Go to Main menu
  • View > System views > Shared parameters

By attaching it to an existing view
The shared parameters plugin can also created from within the view:

  • Click the plus sign next to an existing system view
  • Choose where to place the new view (Left, Right, Above, Beneath or Tabbed)
  • Select Shared parameters

Modi

There are two operating modi:

  • In simplified mode, the tree shows only a basic parameter relationships
  • In expert mode, the tree shows all parameters involved with linkages

Remove

To remove a shared parameter:

  • Click on the shared parameter that should be removed
  • Right-click > Remove …
